Mobile is growing increasingly significant in our everyday lives and the world of advertising. Most social sharing though is still happening on desktop. Across the Po.st network we see on average 74% of all social sharing occurring on desktop. However, not all days are shared the same, and we see a jump in mobile traffic during weekends and days off. As content and advertising become more focused and informed, it is important to know what days bring engagement on which devices. The chart bellow shows the average percent of mobile sharing we’ve see per week-day over the last year.
During the weekends we see mobile sharing increasing my nearly 10%. Mobile impressions and clicks also jump during the weekends. More than 60% of clickback activity, and nearly half of all impressions over the weekends occurs through mobile.
But we wondered, if all of this mobile activity is happening over the weekends how is this behavior affected during Holidays and other events throughout the year. Bellow you’ll find the mobile sharing trends of the biggest holidays in the last year. Some Holidays showed no change or a negative correlation with mobile sharing, but for the most part we saw a significant increase, with Valentine’s day showing the highest percentage of mobile sharing at almost 40%. Mobile sharing increases the most for social holidays where people are active and not sitting behind a computer, but still want to share content with their friends: sending funny valentines, recipe ideas, holiday memes. Your laptop stays in your room all day, but your phone is always in your pocket, ready to bring you the latest content and news.
