Take a Tour of The New Post Platform

The release of V4 in January was such an exciting time for the Po.st team as we saw the product updates and increased functionality make custom designs and feature selections easier than ever for our fantastic publishers.  The new Social Tools tab makes it faster and more intuitive than ever to set up sleek, personalized buttons and custom feature settings.  With that in mind, we’d like to give you a tour of the new options and updates.

When you arrive at the Social Tools tab of your dashboard you will see four boxes marked as: Sharing Buttons, Floating Sharing Buttons, Po.st Lite, and Native Sharing Buttons.  Depending on what you are trying to accomplish with your site, you may activate one, several, or all of these options.

Sharing Buttons:

This box provides the ability to set up and activate sharing buttons that will sit in a static location on your page.  When you click ‘Set up and activate’ you will be taken to a design page where you can either select one of the preset design templates, or to make the following changes for your own design:

  • Selection of sharing services in the tool
  • Button background color
  • Sharing icon color
  • Turning button labels on or off
  • Shape of the buttons (square, rounded or circular)
  • Button size
  • Turning sharing counters on or off

In Advanced Settings you can make the following changes:

  • Vertical or Horizontal arrangement
  • Showing a single counter combining all sharing channels
  • Turning stretch to fit on or off
  • Customizing the Twitter handle used when sharing through Twitter
  • Switching between a new tab or popup window share dialog box

Floating Sharing Buttons:

Floating sharing buttons always maintain the same position on the screen, so as you scroll they scroll with you.  Floating buttons can be used in place of, or in addition to standard sharing buttons.  Floating sharing buttons have all of the same setting options as standard sharing buttons with the additional options for where on the page you want your buttons to float,  how far offset you want the buttons from the edge of the page, and an optional toggle for site visitors to hide or show the buttons.

Mobile Vs. Desktop Designs

Want different designs for mobile and desktop?  Both the standard and floating sharing buttons have a tab that allows you to switch between a universal, or mobile-specific design.  With a mobile specific design you will be given all of the same design options as on desktop and be able to tailor your buttons to your mobile site.

Po.st Lite

Po.st Lite is the most basic, core form of Po.st.  There are no buttons, but you are still able to track dark social engagements with Copy text and Address Bar tracking.  The Po.st Lite section is where you can update all of the settings for your dark social engagements.  Unfamiliar with dark social sharing?  Learn about the Copy text, and Address Bar settings in your dashboard from these links:
